The Ultimate Brain Power Almond Cookies

I love having fun, healthy treats on hand.  When chocolates involved, it’s an added bonus for everyone!

These cookies are extra fun because they wait for you nice and cold, in your freezer.  Yet, they are ready to bite into as soon as you want one.  Seriously, they are better than an ice cream cookie sandwich. Bonus, they won’t leave you feeling sluggish. 

These cookies are packed with foods our brains need to build healthy fats.  Our brain is 60% fat.  Almonds, hemp seeds, chia seeds and nut butters are high in polyunsaturated fats which contain the essential fatty acids Omega 3’s and Omega 6’s.  These fats are needed for brain health and also help in other areas, such as mood control (and ADHD).

Kid Friendly Recipe

Another favorite about this recipe: its kid friendly! It’s so simple to make, and fun, that your kids can take the lead in the kitchen with this one (Let’s delegate!).  Kids will gather all the ingredients, mix with their hands, form into flat circles and freeze.  That’s it.  No worries about raw eggs or dangerous cooking tools.

And don’t forget….remind them to wash the dishes when they are all done!

My 9 year old daughter makes these cookies for us and she loves the independence she has in the kitchen with this recipe. 

Kids Coooking

Just for fun, kids can vary the ingredients, to include their favorite nuts, seeds and use different toppings.
